Submission Guidelines

The Indian Journal of Business & Legal Studies (IJBLS) Blog serves as a scholarly platform dedicated to promoting insightful discourse on issues that lie at the interface of business, management, economics, and law. It welcomes contributions from students, academicians, practitioners, and professionals who aim to analyse contemporary developments shaping corporate and commercial practices. The blog aspires to bridge theoretical research with practical implications, thereby nurturing a more comprehensive understanding of the evolving business–legal landscape in India and beyond. Submissions that engage critically with regulatory frameworks, judicial decisions, and policy initiatives are particularly encouraged, provided they advance meaningful debate within the discipline.

Themes and Scope

The thematic scope of IJBLS is intentionally broad to capture the multifaceted nature of business–law interactions. Contributors are invited to write on subjects such as corporate law, insolvency and restructuring, banking and finance, competition law, capital markets, taxation, labour and employment, and international trade. The Journal also encourages research that integrates aspects of business management, governance, compliance, and sustainability. Discussions on technology regulation, data protection, and ESG obligations are equally welcome. While the focus remains analytical, the Journal favours submissions that demonstrate originality and critical depth rather than those offering merely descriptive accounts or summaries of existing material.

General Guidelines

•  All submissions must represent original and unpublished work that has not been submitted elsewhere.

•  Every piece will undergo plagiarism and AI-detection screening to ensure authenticity.

•  Co-authorship of up to two authors is permitted, and submissions must be written exclusively in English. Cross-publication or simultaneous submission to other forums is not allowed unless expressly permitted by the Editorial Board.

•  Contributors are expected to maintain academic integrity and clarity of expression throughout their manuscripts, ensuring that all assertions are properly substantiated with authoritative sources.

Categories and Word Limits

The Indian Journal of Business & Legal Studies (IJBLS) Blog accepts submissions in two principal categories to accommodate both concise and comprehensive analyses.

The first category, Blog Posts, should range between 1,000 and 2,000 words and typically focus on recent judgments, legislative amendments, regulatory developments, or emerging policy concerns. Such posts are expected to present sharp, timely insights with a clear analytical framework.

The second category, Long Articles, may extend from 2,000 to 8,000 words and is reserved for in-depth explorations of complex or comparative legal and business issues. These pieces may adopt interdisciplinary or theoretical perspectives, provided they maintain a structured and critical approach to the topic discussed.

Formatting Requirements

All submissions must be typed in Garamond font, size 12, with 1.5 line spacing and one-inch margins on all sides. The file should be saved in .doc or .docx format and named using the following convention: “Title_IJBLS,” with the title written in sentence case not exceeding ten words. Titles must appear bold and underlined, while second-level headings should be in bold and third-level headings underlined. Authors are advised to ensure stylistic consistency throughout their work, as formatting uniformity facilitates smoother editorial review and publication.

Referencing and Citations

The Journal prefers the use of embedded hyperlinks within the main text for all references wherever possible, ensuring accessibility for readers. In cases where hyperlinks cannot be provided, citations may be placed in footnotes following any consistent academic style, such as OSCOLA or the Bluebook. Speaking or discursive footnotes should be avoided, and pinpoint citations must be included for all references to statutes, judgments, or policy documents. Authors are expected to adopt a rigorous approach to sourcing and referencing, reflecting the academic standards of the Journal.

Submission Process

Submissions must be made exclusively through the official IJBLS Submission Google Form. The Journal does not entertain entries sent via email or other modes of communication. Contributors are advised to review their manuscripts thoroughly before submission to ensure conformity with all prescribed guidelines, as non-compliance may result in rejection at the preliminary stage.

Review and Publication Timeline

Upon receipt of a submission, the Editorial Team will acknowledge it within forty-eight hours. The review procedure consists of two distinct stages. In the first stage, the Editorial Board undertakes a preliminary assessment to verify thematic relevance, originality, and compliance with formal requirements. Authors are generally informed of the outcome whether acceptance, rejection, or revision request, within seven to ten days. In the second stage, qualifying submissions undergo a double-blind peer review, wherein both reviewers and authors remain anonymous. The peer review focuses on analytical depth, accuracy, and contribution to scholarly discourse. Final decisions are ordinarily communicated within ten to fourteen days. Where revisions are requested, authors are expected to resubmit their revised manuscripts within five days. The final decision regarding publication shall rest exclusively with the Editorial Board of IJBLS.
